Our Approach to Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) Considerations
For over 20 years ESG factors have played a role in our investment process. In 2014, we formally became a signatory to the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investing (“PRI”), further demonstrating our commitment to ESG practices.
ESG factors often coincide naturally with our business building approach, and like all other investment criteria, can help identify potential value drivers as well as risk.
A timeline of noteworthy ESG developments at PA Capital:
- 2009: advancement in evaluating governance through underwriting back office, valuation, IT security, and control environments of managers by our Operational Due Diligence team
- 2012: began raising ESG awareness through systematic engagement with underlying managers on the importance of ESG considerations
- 2014: formally became a signatory to the UN PRI
About the Principles for Responsible Investing and Our ESG Approach
ESG is an important consideration and goes beyond how we invest. We consider responsibility more broadly as an integral part of both investing and our daily lives. Our team actively gives and engages with our communities through both annual firm-wide charitable campaigns as well as individually. We have positively impacted multiple organizations and social initiatives, including education, healthcare and environmental causes, much of which is done in partnership with the NYL Foundation.
